Over 20 percent of Californians are living in poverty and another 20% of Californians are in “near-poverty,” which means they struggle to pay for food and shelter. All the while, the State of California has a $9 billion dollar surplus.

Please join us to defend the social safety net programs like Medi-cal, CalWORKS, CalFRESH, and SSI. These programs are the core of the social determinants of health, structural determinants and conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. These social determinants inform our socioeconomic status, education, the physical environment, employment, and social support networks and access to health care.

Join us in response to Governor Gavin Newsom's January Budget proposal to demand that the state make housing, food, healthcare and education affordable for all Californians.
