May 5, 2020 Update

Governor Newsom announced that phase two of the stay at home order is underway. This phase will allow for businesses to open up for curbside pickups, while keeping the doors not physically open but rather to keep the business moving. As deaths, hospitalization and ICU’s are lagging indicators, with tracing and testing potential virus victims will allow the isolation of infected individuals while also further developing into future phases. Guidelines surrounding this plan will be released on Thursday, May 7, 2020. 19.3 million masks have come in this past week and will be distributed immediately. With modifications and adaptations slowly the economy and businesses will slowly start opening up.

The core constructs and social distancing need to be maintained in order to move forward and open things back up until a vaccine is made. Laguna Beach, San Clemente, Huntington Beach, Dana Point, and Seal Beach with appropriate restrictions in terms of appropriate beach access will be reopening. Over 10.1 billion dollars of unemployment insurance have been distributed since March 15, 2020.

The total number of new positives cases is at 1,275 and remains within a margin of error. 63 people have lost their lives and the hospitalization numbers have increased to 2.6% whereas the ICU numbers have decreased by 1.9%.
