SB-29 Medi-Cal: eligibility - Senator Durazo

SB 29 and AB 4 would provide full-scope Medi-Cal to income-eligible adults by removing immigration status as an eligibility exclusion.
We appreciate Senator Ricardo Lara and Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula for making California taking the lead by assuring all Californians, like our immigrant communities have access to health care!” # Health4All -Maribel Nunez, California Partnership Executive Director
California Partnership coordinated both the Coachella Valley Health4All Kids collaborative and San Bernardino collaborative. We worked on outreach, application assistance enrollment/education. The goal of this program was to educate and increase awareness among immigrant families in the Eastern Coachella Valley and San Bernardino, of the importance and health benefits of enrolling uninsured children in and/or maintaining health coverage through restricted scope Medi-Cal prior to the Department of Health Care Services’ transition process as well as the benefit of enrolling in full-scope Medi-Cal after the transition phase ends. The Health 4 All Coachella Valley and San Bernardino Collaborative included Borrego Health Clinics, FIND Food Bank, Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo, Catholic Charities, TODEC, Inland Empire Immigrant Youth Collective. As a part of this collaborative, working for healthcare for all California residents in 2016, we had hoped that the bill would have included all residents.
